If LIV Golf does continue beyond the end of this season, there is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that the landscape of the league will shift significantly moving forward.
Back in April, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund announced that they would be withdrawing their funding from LIV Golf at the end of the 2026 season.
And now, LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil is frantically searching for new investment in the league.
Brooks Koepka has already left LIV Golf and returned to the PGA Tour , while Patrick Reed is set to follow in his footsteps, having left the Saudi-backed league earlier this year.

And there may well be more players who make the same switch over the course of the next few months.
One player who has been a big hit on LIV Golf this season has admitted that his manager has already sounded out PGA Tour officials.
Lucas Herbert confirms his manager has discussed PGA Tour return
Australian star Lucas Herbert has enjoyed a hugely successful season so far in 2026.
Herbert, 30, has won twice on LIV Golf this year, and recorded a T-6 finish at The Open Championship last month.
Herbert tied the major championship scoring record with a brilliant 62 at The Open, but unfortunately fell away during the final round.
If LIV Golf does cease to exist from the end of this season onwards, he will obviously have to find a new tour to play on, just like everyone else.

Herbert spoke to reporters on Tuesday ahead of LIV Golf New York and responded when asked whether he has already spoken to PGA Tour officials about a potential return.
“ I haven’t personally had any discussions, but I think my manager has, “ the Australian admitted.
“ If LIV were to go away and you’ve got nowhere to play, I think ultimately you need somewhere to play as a professional golfer. So we’re just doing due diligence, having that conversation.
“ As I said, I haven’t had it personally, and my preference would be to still be playing out here if that was still an option.
“ Yeah, I think conversations have been had without me being privy to them. I don’t know the results of any of those either. Yeah, that’s my update. “
Lucas Herbert’s manager was safeguarding his client’s future
Herbert’s admission that his manager has spoken to the PGA Tour about a potential return is perfectly reasonable.
Of course, players can’t be expected to sit around and wait regarding LIV Golf’s future.
They need to take care of themselves, and only themselves.
Lucas Herbert’s manager was simply performing due diligence and safeguarding his client’s future by speaking with the PGA Tour.
However, it remains to be seen what will happen in the future. LIV Golf could continue to operate, of course.
And if they do remain in existence, Herbert has already admitted that remaining with them is his preference.
