The Atlanta Falcons star running back was on the field as the team practiced for the first time during training camp. However, he was without a helmet and only an observer, as shown in a video captured by WSB-TV's Alison Mastrangelo.

— Alison Mastrangelo (@AlisonWSB) July 29, 2026 Robinson is hoping for a new contract from the team as he enters his fourth season in the NFL. The 24-year-old is under contract through the 2027 season after Atlanta picked up his fifth-year option in April. That option is worth $11.32 million, but Robinson's eventual contract should be worth much more.
He is currently on the books with a cap hit of about $6.9 million for 2026.
One of the game's superstars, Robinson has posted 5,648 scrimmage yards in three seasons with the Falcons – the most in the NFL during that span and 408 more than Derrick Henry.
Drake London and Kyle Pitts have already received lucrative extensions from the Falcons this offseason, leaving Robinson as the last of the team's offensive core to be awaiting his payday.
“We’ll figure it out,” Matt Ryan, the team’s new president of football, told USA TODAY Sports' Jarrett Bell in June .
“Bijan, he’s a really special player,” Ryan said. “There’s no timetable for kind of hammering that out, but he’s a guy that we certainly want here to be a part of the organization for a long time.”
As the regular season approaches, time is running out for both sides to reach an agreement before Robinson misses valuable practice time.
Robinson is not alone in this pursuit, however.
The Detroit Lions' Jahmyr Gibbs also made headlines for his absence at practice on July 29 . Gibbs, like Robinson, is searching for a new contract ahead of the 2026 season.
