WPVI PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Lottery lovers might be in for an exciting week as both the Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots grow after no recent winners.
While there are a few millionaires in New Jersey, as well as somewhere in Pennsylvania, after taking home smaller prizes, the $800 million Mega Millions jackpot remains unclaimed.
The Powerball jackpot is up to about $663 million after no one matched Monday night's drawing.
The largest Mega Millions jackpot since November is up for grabs Tuesday, after no one hit all six numbers Friday.
This comes as Mega Millions is sort of in a drought right now.
So far, only two people have hit Mega Million jackpots this year, which could potentially be the lowest number since the game began in the early 2000s.
Lottery officials say the last time the game only saw two jackpot winners this time of year was in 2024. That year, only four people hit the jackpot, which was the fewest of any year.
The cash value for both prizes is less than half their listed amounts.
"If I hit it I'm going to be retired soon," said Jahir Islam, from Upper Darby.
"I think I'm going to go back inside and get a ticket. It's what I'm going to do, actually," said Tina Malone, from Drexel Hill.
Who every does it the jackpot could take home a total cash payout of around $344 million. Its next drawing scheduled for Tuesday.
Mega Millions says its biggest jackpot ever was more than $1.6 billion in 2023.
