We are six days from the official roster cutdown date. And the Raiders haven't even played their final preseason game. But they apparently weren't interested in waiting that long to cut WR Noah Brown. Just a day into their preparation for that final preseason game against the 49ers in Las Vegas, Brown was released.
It was a little over a week ago that the veteran wide receiver joined the team, signing as a free agent back on August 16. He appeared in their second preseason game last Thursday night, catching one pass for 11 yards.
The 6-2, 225-pounder joined the Raiders with a wide open competition for the likely final wide receiver spot on the roster and as probably the most established resume among the group 155 catches for 2083 yards in his eight-year NFL career. But he clearly didn't show enough in his brief time with the club to convince them to bother even waiting until the cutdown deadline to let him go.
One positive for Brown is it gives him a chance to get a jumpstart on finding a new team before the influx of players hit the wire on August 30.
