A long and crazy offseason is almost over, and we are now just eight days away from the start of the 2026 Kentucky football season. As we count down the days, we're getting to know the players on the roster, and today we're taking a look at No. 8, Lorenzo Cowan .
Cowan is a 6'3", 250 lb edge rusher out of Savannah, Georgia. As a member of the 2024 recruiting class, he was rated three stars by 247Sports and ranked as the No. 899 overall player in their composite rankings.
Kentucky was one of several schools to offer a scholarship to Cowan out of high school. In the end, though, he committed to the USC Trojans , and headed off to the west coast. However, he would redshirt in his freshman season, and enter the transfer portal, where he would choose the Wildcats.
Last season, Cowan appeared in nine games for the Cats, even starting twice. He recorded 13 tackles, including 4.5 for a loss. He also flashed his pass rushing ability with 2.5 sacks and forced 2 fumbles.
Coach Will Stein needs a pas rusher to step up and be a major threat, and Cowan certainly has the talent to do so. He'll be featured heavily in the rotation, and could have a breakout season.
