Teams will brave the summer heat for a little over a week until the preseason begins when the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers face off in the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday, Aug. 6 on NBC. Week 1 of the preseason officially kicks off the following week on Aug. 13.
In counting down until the NFL regular season starts on Sept. 9, we continue to look at key offseason storylines for each of the league’s 32 teams. Next up in our offseason series is power ranking every wide receiver room in each of the NFL’s eight divisions. Next up is the NFC North.
The Vikings may just have the best WR trio in the NFL. Justin Jefferson has started his career with six straight 1,000-yard seasons, and he’s topped 100 catches int here of them and hit 10 touchdowns in two of them.
Jordan Addison has scored 22 touchdowns and had two seasons with 875 yards or more. Jauan Jennings is just a year removed from a career-high 975 yards and he posted a career-best nine touchdowns last season. With two-time Pro Bowler Kyler Murray throwing them the ball, Minnesota’s WR corps has the potential to put up all-time numbers.
The Packers may not have the top-end talent that the Vikings do, but they have some really excellent pass-catchers. Injuries limited Jayden Reed last year, but he scored 14 touchdowns and put up back-to-back seasons of 790 yards the two years before that.
Christian Watson has also dealt with injuries, but most agree the talent is there. He’s logged 600 or more yards in three of his four seasons, and the Packers are hoping he’s on the cusp of a breakout in 2026. Matthew Golden totaled just 29 receptions and 361 yards as a rookie, but he should get a lot more targets with Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks gone.
Deciding who’s the best receiver in the division between Jefferson and Amon-Ra St. Brown is one that NFC North fans love to debate. St. Brown has put up four straight 1,000-yard seasons, scoring 39 touchdowns since 2022. He’s developed into one of the top receiving threats in the league.
Jameson Williams had a rough start to his career due to injuries and a gambling suspension, but he’s turned things around the last two years. Williams posted back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons, scoring 14 touchdowns and averaging over 17 yards per catch. Isaac TeSlaa showed promise as a rookie, and the Lions will presumably get him more involved in the passing game next year.
Trading away D.J. Moore was somewhat of a risk for the Bears, but given the potential Rome Odunze (44 receptions, 661 yards, six TDs) and Luther Burden (47 receptions, 652 yards, two TDs) showed last year, they clearly think it’s one they can afford to take.
But behind those two, Chicago has a handful of wild cards. Coaches are high on rookie Zavion Thomas, who could put up big numbers with a high volume of touches. Scotty Miller and Kyron Hudson are nothing more than WR4 and WR5 options, but they’re solid, nonetheless.
