The New York Giants opened their preseason slate with a 13-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, with three Giants quarterbacks all seeing time on the field.
Starting quarterback Jaxson Dart was in for limited plays in the first half and exited to the blue medical tent after getting sacked. After being evaluated, he was able to return and throw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Malachi Fields.
Dart ended up completing 3 of 4 passes for 26 yards and that one touchdown in his time on the field. He was sacked twice during his outing, and after the loss spoke to the media about the medical protocol.
"As far as the blue tent, I really respect the rules and the thought behind what the NFL has of keeping players healthy and reviewing things. At the same time, I'm still puzzled by it just feeling like every time that I get hit, I find my way in there, which times I still try to wrap my head around," Dart said at his postgame press conference .

Vikings safety Jay Ward leveled Dart near the end of the first quarter, and a highlight clip of the huge sack circulated online.
The Giants quarterback was also sacked by Vikings linebacker Dallas Turner earlier in the quarter. Despite those setbacks, Dart also indicated he was proud of how his team's drive went when he was on the field.
Backups Brandon Allen and Jameis Winston also got some time for the Giants. Winston completed 8 of 9 passes for 89 yards, while Allen went 5 of 8 on his passes for 45 yards. Allen also threw two interceptions in his time on the field.
The Giants sending Dart to the medical tent for evaluations makes sense, as he's the team's QB1 and the season hasn't even started. Seeing him get drilled in a preseason game is concerning with the regular season less than a month away.
He's become known as a threat to take off running, and he's sometimes criticized for playing with a fierce, competitive mindset where he doesn't slide on rushing plays to protect himself. Due to that, he's often absorbing some hard contact on those plays.
During his rookie season with the Giants, he played in 14 games, starting in 12. Throughout his season, Dart went to the blue tent multiple times. Week 10, he suffered a concussion during his team's 24-10 loss to the Chicago Bears and was sidelined for the next two games.
The Giants get their next preseason game on Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Miami Dolphins. They begin their regular season when they host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Sept. 13.
