Alt spoke to reporters as veterans reported on Tuesday and said he can't wait to get the pads back on soon.
"I’m ready to rock and roll," Alt said .
Alt only played six games in 2025 due to a severe high right ankle injury that required surgery. The offensive tackle suffered the injury in Week 9 against the Titans.
His absence, plus the absence of fellow Pro Bowl tackle Rashawn Slater, put the Chargers' offensive line in a bad spot, and it showed throughout the season. Justin Herbert was sacked a career-high 54 times.
The Chargers and Alt are looking to flip the script in 2026. The offense has been revamped in a big way with the addition of new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel. McDaniel is projected to help Alt reach a new level with a wide-zone blocking scheme, a quicker passing game and reduced interior pressure.
The scheme is set to do wonders for the offense as a whole. McDaniel recently said he expects big things from the offensive line unit as a whole.
"What we've created is a highly competitive room that we feel confident we're going to have not just five starters that you can win football games with and be very happy about, but two, three, four extra guys that will probably have to see the field during the season based on the natural course of the rigors of the NFL," McDaniel said . "Really pumped about where we're at."
The 23-year-old will enter his third season in the league and is projected to have an All-Pro season.
