The Indianapolis Colts' initial 53-man roster is now set, but the work is not yet done for GM Chris Ballard.
He will be searching the waiver wire for any potential additions , and he also must begin constructing the practice squad.
When it comes to the practice squad, most of those 16 spots will go to players who were on the training camp roster, but there are likely to be a few outside additions made as well.
Here is our prediction of which players Ballard would like to get back on the practice squad -- leaving some room for a few outside signings.
RB Ulysses Bentley
Bentley could have earned a spot on the 53-man roster after a strong training camp. He adds a pass-catching element out of the backfield.
WR Anthony Gould
A former draft pick who provides slot depth and can handle return duties.
WR Raylen Sharpe
Sharpe was often targeted in two of the three preseason games. In Weeks 1 and 3, he caught six of nine passes for 41 yards. Most of his snaps came from the slot.
TE Pharaoh Brown
A veteran addition who could be a game-day elevation early on to provide depth with Will Mallory on IR.
OT Nolan Rucci
An offensive tackle prospect worth attempting to develop on the practice squad.
OL Josh Sills
Sills was a fringe roster player. He played guard, center, and tackle during the preseason.
DT Cameron Ball
A developmental nose tackle option for the Colts .
DE Mitchell Melton
Melton was productive with his opportunities, generating five pressures over just 11 pass rush snaps in the final two preseason games.
LB West Weeks
Relatively speaking, the Colts invested a good amount into Weeks after the 2026 NFL draft when signing him as a UDFA. In Year 1, he could provide special teams depth from the practice squad if needed.
CB Kenneth Harris
Harris was a late addition and only played in the last preseason game. However, he allowed only two receptions on five targets for 12 yards.
S Trey Washington
Washington seemed to be in the mix for a roster spot this summer.
