Trump Media's paid data feed is gaining customers, CEO says
Trump Media and Technology Group interim CEO Kevin McGurn said Monday that the number of paying customers for its Truth API service has grown into the "mid-teens," up from more than 10 agreements signed roughly two weeks ago.
Speaking on CNBC 's "Squawk Box," McGurn offered the mid-teens figure in response to a question about whether the company had added new paying customers: "We're getting into the mid-teens now, and we're climbing." Truth API, which went live on Aug. 1, gives subscribers faster access to posts from Truth Social's ten most-followed accounts and is priced between $60,000 and $100,000 per month.
McGurn first disclosed the "more than 10" customer figure during Trump Media's quarterly earnings call, held about two weeks ago. Monday's CNBC appearance marked an update to that count.
The service has drawn scrutiny from critics who argue that because President Donald Trump often makes market-moving announcements through his Truth Social account, paying subscribers gain access to valuable information before the general public. Trump holds a significant ownership stake in Trump Media through the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust.
The controversy around Truth API has extended into the courts and Congress. The Intercept Media and the Freedom of the Press Foundation filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Manhattan seeking to block the service, arguing it violates the First and Fifth Amendments by giving paying customers privileged access to official presidential communications. That complaint names Trump in his official capacity, along with several White House officials and offices, as defendants.
Separately, Senators Elizabeth Warren and Adam Schiff wrote to Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Paul Atkins last month asking the agency to examine whether Truth API violated federal securities law barring insider trading and market manipulation.
Trump Media pushed back by noting that presidential communications flow through many platforms and outlets that offer subscription-based access.
The customer update came as Trump Media continues to report limited revenue from its core business. The company posted a net loss of $238.1 million for the second quarter of 2026 , driven by non-cash losses on its cryptocurrency holdings, with total revenue for the period reaching $1.67 million. McGurn has described Truth API as a high-margin, recurring revenue stream for the company.
