Breaking down the top WR classes in the 2027 cycle so far
Recruiting wide receivers can often be adventurous as the position is always full of boisterous and talented blue-chippers. It’s become rare that a cycle doesn’t feature a big flip or two from one of the nation’s top pass-catchers.
If a school wishes to add another elite receiver to their class, it will indeed have to be a flip, as all 54 of the blue-chip prospects at the position — according to the Rivals Industry Ranking — are currently committed, as of Aug. 25.

Those 54 commitments have dispersed among 37 college programs. Fourteen schools have multiple blue-chip WR commits this cycle. There’s a quintet of five-star pass-catchers this cycle and they are each headed to powerhouses. Rivals breaks down the top receiver classes nationwide coming out of the summer:
Oregon continues to target and land elite talent from all over the country. Its trio of wide receiver pledges is a great example of that. Guerrant is the No. 1 senior prospect in Michigan, while Sabb checks in as the No. 2 recruit out of New Jersey.
The former received his fifth star in the latest Rivals300 update and reminds Rivals’ Scouting and Rankings Team of Emeka Egbuka . Guerrant had over 1,000 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns as a junior last fall. He chose the Ducks over Michigan and a slew of other high-profile contenders.
The latter has been a five-star at points throughout the cycle and remains on that bubble heading into his senior season. Sabb has caught 30 touchdowns during an illustrious prep career and is just as dynamic on the defensive side of the ball.
Then there’s Garlington, the No. 3 recruit in Oregon who’s set to stay in-state. Also note that this doesn’t even include four-star athlete commit Tae Walden Jr. , another top-100 overall prospect who could line up at receiver or defensive back at the next level. Position coach Ross Douglas has a legit group headed his way.
Along with Oregon, Texas A&M is the only other program to tote a pair of top-10 receiver commitments this cycle. The Aggies have a firm grip on the nation’s No. 1 class. McFarland and Upshaw are two of Mike Elko’s 11 pledges that rank as top-100 prospects.
McFarland hails from Las Vegas but stars on a loaded IMG Academy (Fla.) squad. He caught 11 touchdowns in nine games last season and possesses elite speed that helps him dominate in the slot. He committed at the end of June.
Upshaw was a big win for the Aggies back in April. One of four blue-chippers from Georgia to commit to the SEC program this cycle, he ranks as the No. 5 senior in the Peach State and reminds Rivals of Michael Gallup .
Warren is another Las Vegas product who’s still in Sin City this fall. He’s the No. 4 senior recruit in Nevada and was another June pledge alongside Haddad, a nifty playmaker out of Ohio who’ll look to bolster his stock this fall.
Cal

New head coach Tosh Lupoi is working to revitalize his alma mater, and if his work on the recruiting trail is any indication, he’s well on his way. Cal is one of three programs to hold commitments from three blue-chip receivers this cycle.
The Bears currently have the nation’s No. 21 class and the trio of receiver commits sit atop the pledge list. Davis is the headliner for position coach Ike Hilliard , checking in as the lone top-100 prospect in the class. He committed on April 10 and his stock has continued to rise heading into his senior season.
Dezeurn and White both committed during the busy month of June. The former is a one-time Oklahoma pledge who ultimately decided to stay in the Golden State at the next level. The latter is now in Hawaii for his senior year but is ready to make his way to Berkeley in 2027. Cal beat North Carolina and Washington for White’s pledge.
Florida

Another program that’s hit the recruiting trail running under a first-year staff is Florida. New head coach Jon Sumrall has the Gator faithful excited by the SEC program’s class that currently checks in at No. 8 in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
There’s no shortage of blue-chip commits on the offensive side of the ball and that includes three in-state four-star receivers. UF’s biggest win came in May as it beat out Georgia for Pearl, the No. 11 player in the Sunshine State. He’s also a top-10 receiver in the updated Rivals300 rankings.
Collins had already committed to Florida under Billy Napier . He then re-opened his process but proceeded to choose the Gators again in March. Previously listed as an “athlete,” Collins is a dynamic two-way playmaker who’ll likely line up as a receiver at the next level for position coach Marcus Davis . Jennings joined the fold in April, choosing UF over Miami. He’s another top-30 player in Florida that’s headed to The Swamp.
The West Coast as a whole is having a solid recruiting cycle and Washington has been one of the big winners thus far. The Huskies now have the nation’s No. 22 class and it features four receiver commits, three of whom are of the blue-chip variety.
