The Boston Red Sox have done the unthinkable over the past month and a half, and have even been compared to some of the best stretches Major League Baseball has ever seen. Putting themselves in this type of company, the Red Sox have to feel very good about what they've done.
However, the only other team in Major League Baseball to go through this type of stretch in a 37-game span was the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2022. The Dodgers, probably still the favorite to win it all at the moment, went 32-5 within a single season.
“The Red Sox (64-51) have now won 11 of their past 12 games. They are 32-5 since June 25, the best 37-game stretch in franchise history — a run that also included a franchise-record 15-game win streak in July. The 2022 Los Angeles Dodgers were the last team to have a 32-5 stretch within a single season,” Dennis Lin wrote .
While this is nice company for the Red Sox to be in, it's also important to remember that the Dodgers didn't win a World Series that season. Speaking of which, the Red Sox roster has to keep in mind that World Series aren't won in July and August.
This is obviously a team that has a real chance to do so, but there's a lot of baseball left to be played, and history doesn't guarantee them anything just because of what they've done in the second half of this campaign.
