The Giants are set to sign running back Najee Harris and his arrival will reportedly result in the departure of one of his former Steelers teammates from the NFC East team's roster.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Giants plan to release wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster in a corresponding move. Smith-Schuster and Harris were both in Pittsburgh during the 2021 season.
Smith-Schuster signed with the Giants in early June, but is listed as a fourth-string receiver on the team's depth chart. He did not play in the team's first preseason game.
Smith-Schuster, who was a 2017 second-round pick in Pittsburgh, had 33 catches for 345 yards and a touchdown while with the Chiefs in 2025. He also played in Kansas City in 2022 and 2024 with a one-year run in New England splitting up his two stints in the AFC West.
