Close It is an adorable collaboration that is bound to be popular — which, unfortunately, also means that scalpers will be on them like vultures. In the past, fun collabs like this have resulted in scalpers purchasing menus in bulk and dumping food on the street. In 2021, McDonald's Happy Meals included Pokémon cards, which led to a toy shortage and wasted food, as greedy adults ordered dozens of menus at a time — the same thing happened again in 2025.
If this becomes a recurring situation, McDonald's will have to find a solution to avoid food waste and prevent scalpers from taking all of the toys for themselves. Hopefully, the craze won't reach a level of obsession and severity where McDonald's has to set up facial recognition technology in its stores like the Pokémon Centers in Japan .
