See the full story · 1 sourcesDespite losing Cameron Boozer, Isaiah Evans and Maliq Brown to the NBA, there are still high expectations for the Duke Blue Devils as the 2026-27 season approaches. High-profile commits, top-tier transfers and phenomenal returning players have head coach Jon Scheyer in a great position this summer.
Jon Rothenstein, a college basketball insider, recently listed five ACC players poised for a breakout campaign this winter. His list included one Duke student athlete, rising sophomore Dame Sarr. Although Sarr wasn't the biggest scoring threat (6.4 points) as a freshman, those around the Blue Devils have raved about his defense. Sarr will be eager to earn ACC All-Defensive honors for the second consecutive season after averaging one steal and 0.4 blocks in 38 contests last year.
If able to take an offensive leap as well, Sarr could be one of the ACC's biggest breakout stars, just as Rothenstein predicts.
