Alan Ritchson is back as Jack Reacher; he’s large, he’s competent, and once again involved in something considerably more dangerous than he signed up for. Season 4 dropped the first three episodes on Wednesday, and opens with Reacher witnessing a young woman take her own life on the subway, pulling him into a CIA conspiracy. If the first three seasons worked for you, this will work for you. If you have not watched any of them, this is also a perfectly fine place to start because the show does not require continuity.
This is not a remake of the 1979 Judy Davis and Sam Neill film, though the 1979 version (Davis won the BAFTA for Best Actress and the film received Oscar and Golden Globe nominations) is also available to stream on Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, and Prime Video if you want the original.
The 2026 Netflix series is a new six-episode adaptation of Miles Franklin’s classic novel, starring Philippa Northeast and Christopher Chung, premiering all six episodes simultaneously on August 13. Did somebody say cozy binge?

A survival drama from the director of It Follows and Under the Silver Lake, both of which prioritised atmosphere and unease over conventional plotting, is worth the trip to a cinema for anyone who liked either of those films.
