Logo text Netflix has tapped Kirill Sokolov , the helmer behind horror action movie They Will Kill You , to direct the original sci-fi thriller Blur .
Shawn Levy and Dan Levine will produce via 21 Laps.
Netflis is keeping the logline a hop, skip and a jump from prying eyes but it is known to be a mother-daughter story involving teleportation.
The project is based on a previous script by Christy Hall and Dan Casey. Sokolov will co-write the new draft with Ellen Shanman.
Sokolov is the Russian filmmaker who broke out with Why Don't You Just Die , his 2019 dark crime action comedy that was infused with early Tarantino influences. After writing and directing another Russian dark action comedy, No Looking Back , he journeyed to the U.S. in the early 2020s, he landed in Hollywood as he tried to land representation and work.
He made his English-language debut earlier this year with They Will Kill You , an action-horror-comedy released by Warner Bros. in March. Set in a Manhattan luxury building whose Satan-worshipping tenants engage in ritualistic killings, the movie starred Zazie Beetz. THR praised the movie for its gonzo style .
