New Yorkers are in for a wet week of isolated showers and possible thunderstorms as summer draws to a close.
According to the National Weather Service, there are multiple chances for rain and thunder likely starting Tuesday and lasting to the end of the week.
It caps off an unusually wet summer , NWS meteorologist David Stark said, with national centers predicting drier conditions after the next four to five days.
“We actually kind of came into the summer unusually dry, so we've made up that deficit here in the last few months,” Stark said. “Some of it just again has to do with placement of some features in the atmosphere.”
Stark also warned that one or two storms could produce strong wind gusts in localized areas, with risk of downing trees in the strongest wind scenarios. Some showers can bring heavy downpours leading to localizing flooding, Stark said, with the greatest risk on Wednesday.
