EA’s CEO Gets $38 Million Bonus While Battlefield 6 Developers Got Laid Off
According to Circana, Battlefield 6 was the best-selling premium video game of 2025 in the U.S. Two months after this statistic dropped, Electronic Arts announced layoffs across Dice, Criterion, Ripple Effect, and Motive Studios –all four of which contributed to the game's development.
On July 28, EA released its mandatory 10k report, which brags about how, in spite of said layoffs, Battlefield 6 achieved “all milestones” and that its “highly successful” launch directly contributed to the company’s $55 billion sale to Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund. Oh, and EA’s CEO Andrew Wilson is also getting an extra $8 million, putting his total executive compensation for the year at $38,649,984.
As spotted by Eurogamer , Electronic Arts’ newly published 10k report details exactly how much money its bigwigs are getting in their bonuses this year. This includes the aforementioned $38 million for Wilson, $11,317,409 for CFO Stuart Canfield, and $13,713,557 for Entertainment & Central Development President Laura Miele, who recently championed generative AI as a potential growth driver for creative innovation inside the company .
One of EA’s biggest flexes in the report is the success of Battlefield 6 . According to the 10k report, EA “achieved meeting all milestones for a high-quality launch of Battlefield 6 with positive critical reviews and stable services and gameplay, with interim milestones related to future launches being met.”
Of course, the team behind Battlefield 6 wasn’t the only one to get hit with layoffs by EA in the past year. An unspecified number of devs at Full Circle, the team behind Skate , were also let go in February . Kotaku also reported that an unspecified number of EA employees across its recruitment, customer support, trust and safety, and IT teams were laid off sometime in June.
One thing that wasn’t specified in the 10k report is exactly why EA believes that Battlefield 6’s success means that Wilson is deserving of an extra $8 million, yet the people who actually helped to make it don’t deserve to keep their jobs. Maybe they’re factoring in all of the money they no longer have to pay its developers?
