New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart was checked for concussions five times during his rookie NFL season in 2025, and he was diagnosed with one official concussion that forced him to miss two games. ESPN Monday Night Football color commentator Troy Aikman even admitted that he’s “worried about” Dart’s play style, which has resulted in the quarterback taking a substantial number of big hits.
The Giants had their preseason opener on Saturday, and Dart took a massive hit from Vikings safety Jay Ward to end the first quarter. In this case, there wasn’t much Dart could do, as Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. missed a block. Dart remained on the ground for a few seconds.

After the play, Dart was taken to the blue medical tent for a concussion test, as requested by a medical spotter. He was cleared a few plays later and threw a touchdown pass on his first play back.
Later, during an in-game interview on the local Giants broadcast, Dart said, “I’m not gonna talk too much about the tent.”

Well, after the game, Dart did have more to say about his frequent trips to the blue medical tent.
“I really respect the rules and the thought behind what the NFL has of keeping players healthy and reviewing things. At the same time, I’m still puzzled by it just feeling like every time that I get hit, I find my way in there.”

“As far as the blue tent, I really respect the rules and the thought behind the NFL has of keeping players healthy and reviewing things,” Dart said. “But at the same time, I’m still puzzled by it just feeling like every time that I get hit, I find my way in there. Which, at times, I still try to wrap my head around. That’s all that I’m going to say about that situation.”
While it clearly frustrates Dart, it’s better to be safe than sorry with head injuries. And if he wants to avoid frequent trips to the tent this season, he should try to do a better job of avoiding big hits than he did last year.
