It’s an ironic Strands today, because I’ve been going through all this health stuff (both good, since I’m exercising like a demon and eating super healthy, and bad because I’ve had some health scares that have motivated all that healthy stuff) and today’s theme is “Staying Healthy.” The funny thing about that is if you can stay healthy it’s much easier than being very unhealthy and then changing your life around to become healthy. So much more resistance, physically, mentally and often socially. For now, let’s sharpen our minds and uncover some words.

Strands is the newest game in the New York Times’ stable of puzzle games. It’s a fun twist on classic word search games. Every day we’re given a new theme and then tasked with uncovering all the words on the grid that fit that theme, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board. One of these words is the spangram which crosses from one side of the grid to another and reveals even more about the day’s theme.
Read on for today’s theme and some hints to help you uncover today’s words.
Hint : This is not actually a broad puzzle about healthy things. It’s a place you go to get stuff to help you when you’re sick and the things you get when you’re there (and so forth).
What threw me off on today’s Strands was my own notions about STAYING HEALTHY. I was looking for words like DIET and EXERCISE and even when I found MEDICINE then I was looking for DOCTOR and it wasn’t until REFILL and COUNTER that I realized we were talking about the spangram, a PHARMACY. Some hard words in here but none harder than IMMUNIZATION.
