See the full story · 1 sourcesYahya Black , a massive defensive lineman in his own right, was in utter disbelief the first time he met one Pittsburgh Steelers teammate: tight end Darnell Washington .
Black, measuring in at 6-foot-5 and 330-plus pounds, reminisced about meeting the massive 6-foot-7 Washington during his rookie season, including what it felt like to go up against the huge tight end in practice.
“My locker is right next to him. I see this big dude,” Black said via Blitzburgh. “I’m like, ‘That’s a D-line, man.’ Nah, that’s a tight end. It’s like, ‘Damn.’ Then we get into camp. … I line up across from [Washington], hit him, and I’m like, ‘That’s not a tight end. This is a true double team. I’m playing on the inside right now.’”
Black experienced something many NFL defenders feel when going up against the big Steeler. While Washington is a threat as a receiver, his massive 300-plus-pound frame has helped him emerge as one of the best blocking tight ends in the league.
