The Atlanta Falcons reportedly reached an agreement with two-time Pro Bowl running back Bijan Robinson on a three-year contract extension.
The deal will make Robinson the highest-paid running back in NFL history, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter on X.
Robison's contract is reportedly worth up to $75 million with a record $51 million guaranteed. He will also receive $37 million after officially signing the contract.
Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley previously held the title of highest-paid running back in NFL history after he signed a deal that pays him $20.6 million per year in 2025. Robinson will now be making $22.25 million per year.
The Detroit Lions are also reportedly working on a contract extension for star running back Jahmyr Gibbs, which could surpass Robinson for the highest-paid running back title.
Robinson is entering the fourth season of his NFL career. The Falcons drafted him out of Texas with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
The 24-year-old was one of the strongest running backs in the league last season. He led the NFL in scrimmage yards (2,298) and ranked fourth in rushing yards (1,478). Robinson also scored a 93-yard rushing touchdown against the Los Angeles Rams that marked the longest touchdown in the NFL last season.
Across three seasons with the Falcons, the-two time All-Pro selection has recorded 805 carries for 3,910 rushing yards, 198 catches for 1,738 receiving yards and 34 touchdowns (25 rushing, nine receiving).
He is expected to be a big piece of the Falcons' offense this season and for many seasons to come.
