The Chicago Bears kicked off cutdown day with a trade.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Bears are sending defensive tackle Gervon Dexter Sr. to the Atlanta Falcons for cornerback Clark Phillips and a fifth-round pick.
Dexter was rumored to be on the trade block. He missed several days of practice and the preseason finale. It was unclear if a trade would actually materialize or if Dexter would be a cut candidate.
They apparently found a suitor in Atlanta and got back some CB depth.
Dexter, a second-round pick in 2023, played in 49 games with 33 starts. He logged 13.5 sacks, 10 TFL and 42 QB hits. He had a career-high six sacks in 2025.
Phillips, a fourth-round pick in 2023, has played 28 games with seven starts for the Falcons. He has one interception and 10 career PDs. He played in just one game last year with all of his snaps coming on special teams.
