The New York Giants will face tough decisions in the coming days as all 32 NFL teams trim their 90-man rosters to the regular-season limit of 53 players. One of the more interesting decisions this time around involves their 2014 first-round pick, Odell Beckham Jr., who reunited with the Giants in June hoping to continue his NFL career.
With the odds stacked against him after not playing since 2024, Beckham has worked hard since re-signing to prove himself. As cutdown day approaches, he is doing everything he can to make it difficult for the Giants to move on from the three-time Pro Bowler.
Beckham had another strong performance in practice on Wednesday and is putting together what head coach John Harbaugh is calling his best week of camp.
"Yeah, I think Odell's had a good camp. I would say his best week of camp has come this week. He's looked good and made numerous plays, and just like you saw, even today, made numerous plays, so he's doing well," Harbaugh told reporters.
The timing of Beckham's reunion with the Giants is fitting, as he also rejoins Harbaugh, under whom he played in 2023 with the Baltimore Ravens.
Earlier this week, free-agent acquisition Calvin Austin III suffered a torn ACL. Austin's injury leaves the door wide open for Beckham not only to make the team but also to have a serious opportunity to make an impact for Big Blue this season.

— Jordan Raanan (@JordanRaanan) August 26, 2026 Beckham has done all he can on the field to secure a roster spot. He has also been a beneficial veteran presence in the locker room, especially for fellow LSU alumnus Malik Nabers.
"I'm just happy that, one, you see not just him enjoying the game but also the knowledge he's giving to our young guys," assistant general manager Brandon Brown said. "Guys like Malachi (Fields), he's a sponge to him. Malachi being mature beyond his years, he takes and watches all the prep habits, all the route nuance, and again, even though he's a big 6-foot-4 wide receiver, he looks at incorporating those things and borrows those tools and puts them into his bag, and it's been cool to see. So, like I said, I love having Odell around and look forward to seeing what he does the next couple of days."
Strong performances like the one Beckham had Wednesday have been a common trend since his reunion with the team that drafted him more than a decade ago. Given Harbaugh's praise that Beckham is having his best week of camp, it is safe to say he is turning it on at the right time as cutdown day approaches.
