Prior to Brooklyn getting the influx of young players in the 2025 NBA Draft class, Martin showed what he was able to do and now, he is continuing his professional basketball career overseas.
FC Barcelona announced on Friday that they signed Martin to a one-year contract, which comes after spending most of his career with the Nets before ending up with the Philadelphia 76ers towards the end of the season. Martin, 27 , is coming off a 2025-26 season in which he averaged 6.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 39.4% from the field and 31.2% from behind the three-point line.
Martin began his NBA career with the Atlanta Hawks after being taken with the 51st overall pick (second round) in the 2022 NBA Draft out of UConn, but did not get much playing time to start out. Martin spent the entirety of the 2023-24 campaign playing in the G League before making Brooklyn's roster after training camp in preparation for the 2024-25 season.
Martin had by far the best season of his career during the 2024-25 campaign as he averaged 8.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 40.6% from the floor and 35.1% from three-point land in 60 games played. Over the course of that season, Martin went from a training camp deal (Exhibit 10) to a Two-Way contract before eventually earning a standard NBA contract prior to the conclusion of the season.
After playing in 37 games for the Nets in 2025-26, Martin was waived and he signed with the 76ers on a Two-Way contract as they were gearing up for another playoff run and needed more guard depth on the roster. Based on the report from FC Barcelona, Martin will be out of the NBA for next season, but given his talent level, the former Nets guard should be back in the NBA sometime soon.
