Fuel strategy decided the race
The 2025 Iowa Corn 350 Powered by Ethanol was held on Aug. 3, 2025, and featured 350 laps around the 0.875-mile oval.
After stretching a tank of fuel over the closing run, William Byron drove the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet to victory, holding off Chase Briscoe by 1.192 seconds.
The win was Byron’s second of the 2025 season and his first since winning the Daytona 500 earlier that year. It also came just one week after fuel mileage heartbreak at Indianapolis, where Byron ran out of gas while battling near the front.
Byron led 141 laps, the most of any driver in the race, while Briscoe led 81 laps and Brad Keselowski paced the field for 68.
The victory celebration was nearly cut short when Byron’s Chevrolet ran out of fuel during his post-race burnout.
