“The 2026 event features an elite dugout lineup led by two-time MLB All-Star Nick Castellanos, who is managing the Class of 2027 team,” Prep Baseball reported . “He's one of the few who knows what it's like to be in the shoes of these elite incoming seniors, having earned a famous reputation himself while thriving on the national circuit headed into his senior year, just before becoming the No. 44 overall pick in the 2010 Draft.”
Castellanos' own reaction to the opportunity was characteristically brief.
“Marlins Park, talented kids,” said Castellanos, according to the report. “I'm in.”
While the decision to manage the game did not come with a formal announcement that his own playing days are over, it is a telling change for a former slugger who hasn’t played much this season.
The Phillies ultimately decided that their future was better served without Castellanos, creating an opportunity for other outfielders to take on larger roles.
