The Minnesota Lynx won a battle of the WNBA’s top teams on Saturday, defeating the Las Vegas Aces 98-87 at the Target Center.
Olivia Miles continued her outstanding rookie season, tallying a game-high 26 points with 7 assists and 4 rebounds. She has scored 20 or more points in three consecutive games and four of her past five contests.

Naphessa Collier followed with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 3 blocks matched up against reigning WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson. Natasha Howard added 17 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals. Kayla McBride scored 15 points, while Courtney Williams contributed 13 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals.
The Lynx’s win boosted their record to 26-7, giving them a three-game margin over the Aces for the WNBA’s top spot. The Golden State Valkyries could overtake Las Vegas for second place with a win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday.
Jackie Young led the Aces with 23 points, with Wilson adding 16 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks. NaLyssa Smith notched 14 points, 11 boards and 4 assists. Las Vegas is now 22-10 for the season.

The WNBA schedule maker did the Aces no favors, giving them a brutal three-game stretch this week that began with Thursday’s 86-84 overtime win over the Indiana Fever. Following Saturday’s defeat, Las Vegas plays the second end of back-to-back games with a matinee matchup on Sunday versus the New York Liberty at Barclays Center.
