However, long-time NBA analyst Skip Bayless strongly believes that James could be what the doctor ordered for the 76ers, given the 41-year-old’s credentials and overall fitness.
“People around the NBA questioning LeBron’s fit in Philly? HE’S A PERFECT FIT. They needed a pure PG, an orchestrator, and that’s what LeBron does best. Tyrese has averaged 6 assists last 3 years. LBJ will average 11ish and lead league in assists,” Bayless posted on X.

To Bayless’ point, ESPN’s Shams Charania recently reported that the 76ers are planning to play James at point guard. When he last did it in one full season in 2019-20, the four-time league MVP averaged 25.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 10.2 assists, and 1.2 steals on 49.3 percent shooting from the field across 67 regular-season games.

Now that he’s entering his 24th season, he has taken on a new challenge by joining the Philadelphia 76ers, as he plans to help the team win its first Larry O’Brien trophy since 1983, a year before he was even born.
“It’s no doubt LeBron is playing for a different legacy, and the legacy being the only player in NBA history to win a championship with 4 different teams. And he’s playing on borrowed time. It’s like he’s playing with spare change now,” Shams Charania said on the Stephen A. Smith show.
If he does win with the 76ers, James will become the first player in NBA history to have won a championship with four different franchises, strengthening his GOAT argument.
