The first teaser for the Emmy-winning HBO Max drama answers that question: It's Robby's first day back, and it appears he still has some things to work through.
Robby is not the first person seen or heard in the teaser, however. Instead, Shawn Hatosy's Dr. Jack Abbot is rallying his night shift crew to clear the big board before the dayside takes over. "Robby's name is on the schedule — is he finally back?" Dr. Shen (Ken Kirby asks), to which Abbot replies, "I'll believe it when I see it." Watch the teaser below. There's also a bit of gallows humor in the teaser, with Santos (Isa Briones) telling Whitaker (Gerran Howell) "Try not to kill anyone today" ("Yeah, you too," he replies as they fist-bump) and Dana (Katherine LaNasa) greeting Robby by saying, "I thought you'd run away and joined the circus."
The show's producers have previously said season three would take place around Thanksgiving. The teaser and a batch of photos don't offer many specifics, but several people wearing heavy coats, hats and scarves suggests a fall or winter setting, which would put the new season's timeline several months after season two .
Castmembers Patrick Ball, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Shabana Azeez, Ayesha Harris — now a series regular — and Sepideh Moafi are all set to return.
Season three of The Pitt isn't slated to premiere until January. So why release a teaser now? Well, the final round of Emmy voting is currently taking place, and the show has a field-leading 25 nominations .
John Wells Productions and Warner Bros. Television produce The Pitt . Series creator R. Scott Gemmill executive produces with Wells, Wyle, Michael Hissrich, Erin Jontow of John Wells Productions, Joe Sachs, Simran Baidwan and Eli Attie.
