Jaguars potential 53-man roster ahead of training camp

Quarterback (2)
Projected on roster: Trevor Lawrence, Nick Mullens
Cuts: Carter Bradley, Joey Aguilar (R)
Observations: Lawrence's job is safe and it'll take a lot for Bradley or Aguilar to usurp Mullens as the backup. However, the battle for third string QB could heat up throughout training camp. Bradley is the incumbent but the Jaguars promote competition at all levels. It'll be something to watch, especially during joint practices and preseason games.
Running Back (4)
Projected on roster: Chris Rodriguez Jr., Bhayshul Tuten, LeQuint Allen, DeeJay Dallas
Cuts: Ameer Abdullah, J'Mari Taylor (R)
Observations: We have yet to see Rodriguez on the field after his injury sidelined him during offseason workouts. The thought is that the Jaguars will use a by committee approach to their running game. Tuten and Allen are expected to step into larger roles in their second season with the team. An underrated battle might be between Dallas and Abdullah as the team's kick returner. Whoever wins that battle will secure their spot on the roster.
Wide receiver (5)
Projected on roster: Jakobi Meyers, Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, Travis Hunter, Josh Cameron (R), CJ Williams (R)
Cuts: Brady Boyd (R), Chandler Brayboy, Tim Jones, Ben Patterson, Trebor Pena (R), Austin Trammell, Michael Wortham (R)
Observations: What a crowded room. Meyers, Thomas and Washington are surefire starters. Hunter's defensive usage might bring his offensive snaps down some, opening the door for someone to get some extra reps. Williams had an impressive offseason and will likely carve out a role with the team. Cameron has special teams value as a returner, likely cementing his spot.
Cuts: Patrick Herbert, Hunter Long, Ethan Conner (R)
Observations: Are philosophical changes coming for Coen's offense? That's a joke, but I am curious if we'll see a set with all four of these players on the field at the same time. This position is pretty straightforward with both rookie tight ends making the team in addition to the two guys who received contract extensions from the team this offseason.
Offensive line (10)
Projected on roster: Cole Van Lanen, Ezra Cleveland, Robert Hainsey, Patrick Mekari, Anton Harrison, Walker Little, Emmanuel Pregnon (R), Jonah Monheim, Wyatt Milum, Chuma Edoga
Observations: I think the team will opt to keep 10 offensive linemen. As they try to solidify the five best starters, they'll need several players who can play multiple positions in reserve spots. As Van Lanen returns from his injury, we'll likely see different combinations across the line throughout camp.
Defensive line/Edge rusher (9)
Projected on roster: Josh Hines-Allen, DaVon Hamilton, Arik Armstead, Travon Walker, Ruke Orhorhoro, Albert Regis (R), BJ Green II, Danny Striggow, Wesley Williams (R)
Cuts: Keivie Rose, Matt Dickerson, Zach Durfee (R), T.J. Bollers (R), Quinton Bohanna, Jalen Hunt (R), Quindarius Dunnigan, Bryan Thomas Jr. (R)
Observations: This group has heavy expectations placed on their shoulders. With a healthy Travon Walker back in the ranks, position flexibility is key here as well. Several of the players here can play inside or out, giving the team the bodies needed should injuries arise.
Linebacker (6)
Projected on roster: Foye Oluokun, Ventrell Miller, Dennis Gardeck, Branson Combs, Jack Kiser, Jalen McLeod
Cuts: Yasir Abdullah, Parker Hughes (R)
Observations: Another position group that's pretty straightforward. With McLeod back in the mix Abdullah is on the outside looking in. Hughes is the last man in, so he's first man out. He'll be a practice squad candidate though.
Cornerback (5)
Projected on roster: Travis Hunter, Montaric Brown, Jourdan Lewis, Jarrian Jones, Jabbar Muhammad
Cuts: Keni-H Lovely, Christian Braswell, Preston Hodge (R), Devon Marshall (R), Dane Jackson
Observations: Muhammad had as good of a camp as any player on the roster. It's with that logic that the 2025 UDFA makes the team. Lewis and Hunter missed the entire on-field portion of offseason workouts, but they're projected starters. Brown was brought back to be a starter and Jones could find himself amongst the starters depending on how Lewis' recovery goes. Braswell would likely need to have a better camp than Muhammad to make the roster. Lovely and Hodge are longshots who could find themselves in a competition if the team keeps an extra corner.
Safety (5)
Projected on roster: Eric Murray, Antonio Johnson, Caleb Ransaw, Rayuan Lane III, Jalen Huskey (R)
Cuts: Devin Neal Jr. (R), Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig, Trevian Thomas
Observations: Murray and Johnson are the likely starters here with Ransaw potentially pushing his way into a starting role. Lane is a special teams ace and Huskey is a Day 2 pick from this year's draft. It'd take a something terrible for him to be cut from the roster. Neal, Thomas and Silmon-Craig are likely battling for a practice squad spot after roster cuts are made.
