Is Alabama football OL battle complete? 'We're pretty much there
Alabama football's offensive line had three spots already filled: Michael Carroll moved inside to right guard, Cal Poly transfer Racin Delgatty is cemented at center and second-year Jackson Lloyd is firmly at left tackle.
As Alabama 's first game week nears, those final two spots – left guard and right tackle – seem to be secured.
Right tackle, both head coach Kalen DeBoer and offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb said, will likely be Mississippi State transfer Jayvin James, who has "taken most of the reps there," DeBoer said Monday, Aug. 24, compared to Texas transfer Nick Brooks.
Left guard is a bit more open, but Mal Waldrep has taken "most of the reps, but not all with the ones" compared to William Sanders, who DeBoer said can play both right and left guard.
"We're pretty much there," Grubb said Tuesday, Aug. 25.
With a quarterback battle settled, Grubb consistently expects for other position battles to follow suit, allowing the offense to solidify into place.
"It's human nature for guys to just fall into spots and get, ‘OK, that's behind us,’ and there's no more, you know, discussions," Grubb said. "It's just, it is what it is, and guys can move on."
