The Titans are scheduled to take the field for 16 practices, including three joint sessions ― one each against the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears . All this leads up to NFL roster cut day on Aug. 30, when Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi will be tasked with culling the squad from the 91 players they'll carry throughout camp to 53 players on the active roster, plus a practice squad.

5 a.m. CT July 28: What to know about the Titans today
Borgonzi and coach Robert Saleh will meet with local media for a news conference scheduled to begin at noon CT. It will mark the official start of training camp, as players trickle in for report date and coaches put the finishing touches on preparation for the practice schedule.
Topics expected to be discussed include the injuries to JC Latham and Amani Hooker, quarterback Cam Ward's offseason development , position battles on the offensive line, expectations for the seasons and more.
The news conference is expected to be live streamed via the Titans' social media channels, and The Tennessean will share live updates in this thread as possible.

JC Latham, Amani Hooker on PUP. What does that mean?
The Titans put OT JC Latham and safety Amani Hooker on the physically unable to perform list to start training camp. Broadly, that doesn't mean all that much. Players can be activated from the PUP as soon as they're ready within camp. The move tends to matter more if players' injuries linger into the fall, creating a return-to-play protocol that's different than being placed on IR after cut day.
With Latham, a source told The Tennessean as far back as June that the injury he was dealing with wasn't considered major. It's still a hassle for a player who'll need to make a major jump this fall to be missing out on much-needed developmental reps under a new coaching staff, but the Titans also saw with Latham last year that forcing him on to the field too soon after an injury can end poorly.
As for Hooker, he has the Titans' trust. Whenever he's healthy, expect him to factor into the defense. That said, the Titans won't be hurting with Kevin Winston, Tony Adams and Kendell Brooks manning the back end in the interim.

Titans position battles: What to know
Consider these the five most premium position battles:
Right guard: Cordell Volson is the veteran. Jackson Slater and Fernando Carmona are the homegrown youth options. None of these feel like great options, but it'll be interesting to see who surprises coaches and fans alike.
Center: This doesn't feel like as much of a competition with the way Austin Schlottmann handled the job in OTAs, but Pat Coogan's presence and the signing of Andre James makes it something nonetheless.
Linebacker: Will Anthony Hill be able to push Cody Barton for a starting role from the jump? It's possible, even if it's not super likely.
Swing tackle: Especially with JC Latham starting the year on PUP, it'll be worth monitoring how Austin Deculus, Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson, Zach Thomas, Aamil Wagner and Rasheed Miller compete for playing time as the No. 3 tackle.
Defensive end: It's no foregone conclusion that Keldric Faulk starts off the edge with Jacob Martin, Jaylen Harrell, Femi Oladejo and more pushing for roles. Consider it Faulk's job to lose, though.
