With Sean Mannion now running the show, the Eagles ' offense is expected to lean heavily on under-center formations and play-action; a stylistic departure from the shotgun-based system Philadelphia has run for most of the Hurts era. According to ESPN's Tim McManus, Mannion plans to dial up "a healthy amount" of designed runs for Hurts moving forward.

DeVonta Smith is left as the undisputed top target, while newcomer Dontayvion Wicks and rookie Makai Lemon are expected to step into featured roles. With uncertainty in the passing game, leaning back into Hurts' rushing ability is a logical way to keep the offense explosive and unpredictable while the new pieces gel.
None of this guarantees a return to 600-plus rushing yards, and training camp trends don't always translate directly to the regular season, especially with a new play-caller still installing his system. But between Mannion's stated intent and what the early practice reps have shown us, we can expect a more dynamic Jalen Hurts in 2026.
