Bayern Munich’s injury situation is finally starting to show some positive signs, but Saturday’s friendly against RB Leipzig will still come too soon for several players.
Per Bild (via @iMiaSanMia ), Lennart Karl and Serge Gnabry completed parts of team training today before continuing with individual work. Neither will be available against Leipzig.
The same goes for Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Dayot Upamecano, who have yet to train with the team after returning from the World Cup. Their preseason will begin later, with the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup against Borussia Dortmund now looming on August 22nd.
There is better news elsewhere.
Alphonso Davies, Jamal Musiala, and Ismael Saibari have trained with the team throughout the week and could be given minutes off the bench against RB Leipzig. That would be an important step forward for all three as Vincent Kompany continues to build his squad toward the start of competitive action.
With another friendly against Heidenheim coming Tuesday and the Supercup just over a week away, Bayern Munich will be hoping the players working their way back can continue progressing without setbacks.
The squad is getting healthier — now it is about getting everyone match-ready.
