Yankees left fielder Cody Bellinger is set to start a rehab assignment this week, manager Aaron Boone said before Sunday's game at the Toronto Blue Jays.
Bellinger (left hamstring strain) is expected to play games Tuesday and Thursday, likely with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, before potentially rejoining New York for this coming weekend's three-game series against the Blue Jays.
This past week, Boone told reporters that Bellinger could soon be back.
Bellinger, 31, has been on the injured list since July 26.
Before his injury, he slashed .259/.350/.420 with 11 home runs and 53 RBI in 102 games.
"Grade 2 strain, so probably a 4-to-6-week situation," Boone said July 27 . "The good thing is he's obviously able to move around right now, so we'll continue to do that and just allow this thing to heal and get him right."
