The film made $72 million from early preview screenings, beating the previous domestic record of $60 million set by Avengers: Endgame in April 2019.
According to Deadline , the film is almost certain to hit $100 million in its first Friday including previews, something that only five movies have ever accomplished: Avengers: Endgame ($157.4 million), Spider-Man: No Way Home ($121.96 million), Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($119.1 million), Avengers: Infinity War ($106.3 million), and Star Wars: Last Jedi ($104.6 million).
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is on pace to clear Avengers: Endgame ’s massive opening weekend that hit $357 million domestic and $1.2 billion worldwide. Brand New Day is expected to make at least $850 million overseas in its first five days. The film has received glowing reviews thus far, with a 90% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 98% audience score.
Brand New Day 's impressive performance is the latest success story in a year of box office wins. Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has had an incredible run, clearing $700 million globally after 12 days. Between Brand New Day 's opening and the third weekend of The Odyssey , it’s expected that this weekend may have the highest combined domestic gross in box office history — the previous record was $402 million from the opening weekend of Avengers: Endgame .
Other box office standouts include horror films like Obsession and Backrooms , which vastly exceeded expectations by bringing Gen Z to theaters in droves. Meanwhile, Toy Story 5 is the highest-grossing movie of 2026 so far, having cleared $1 billion worldwide, and there have been plenty of other success stories like Project Hail Mary . This year’s domestic box office is on track to reach $10 billion for the first time since before the COVID-19 pandemic.
