Called Unforgetful, the new task-management app is built for people who struggle to keep reminders from slipping through the cracks. Unforgetful is designed around persistent notifications, flexible snoozing, and a deliberately simple interface.
In a blog post announcing Unforgetful , Marco Arment sums up the concept as “Reminders for ADHD.”
He says he created the app this spring to address three problems in Apple’s Reminders app: tasks without an alert can disappear, dismissed notifications do not return, and the available snooze options do not fit his needs.
Unforgetful isn't a to replacement for Apple’s underlying Reminders system. Instead, it actually works with the same data, allowing users to continue creating tasks with Siri and move between Unforgetful, Reminders, and other compatible apps without importing or exporting anything.
The app can repeatedly notify you about a task until you mark it as completed or delete it. It also avoids folders, tags, overdue labels, and other organizational layers to avoid making tasks easier to lose or adding judgment.
Other features include widgets, Lock Screen controls, and Control Center controls.
Unforgetful can space out notifications when several tasks are due at once, skip missed backlogs for recurring tasks, and delay location-based reminders until a few minutes after arrival. These solve some of the basic shortcomings of Apple's Reminders app.
Unforgetful is available on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It requires a subscription after a one-month free trial, with one subscription covering all three platforms.
