The front office poured money and draft capital into the team and they still underperformed.
This season, with Patrick Graham in charge of the defense, expectations are high that this group can once again be elite with the plethora of talent at all three levels. EA Sports recognizes this as well so when they put out its Top 10 rated defenses for Madden 27, the Steelers checked in at 87 overall. This leaves only the Los Angeles Rams defense rated higher and just by a single point. The Rams traded for edge defender Myles Garrett this offseason to give their defense a huge bump.
They have the Steelers ranked No. 6 but they are tied with the Philadelphia Eagles , Baltimore Ravens , Denver Broncos and Houston Texans with that 87 overall rating.
