The Weymouth High football team will send out 11 players with starting experience to defend its Bay State Conference title.
Rising senior running back/safety Brendan Flynn, senior defensive end/tight end Tyandre Monteiro-Cooper (a Stonehill College commit), and a rock-solid core of veteran linemen Isaiah Garcon, Chedwens Justinvil, Dom Brancaccio and Joe Cinquegrano will all be showcased in third-year coach Mike Donovan's ground-and-pound offensive scheme.
Graduated stars Amari Gomes (1,640 yards, 18 touchdowns), Tyler Munchbach (878 yards, 14 touchdowns) and lineman Rafael Alcantara leave behind a runway of expanded opportunity.
"The team has shown great effort all summer," Donovan wrote to The Patriot Ledger. "I believe that we have several backs who can step into those roles and I'm excited to see them all compete this preseason."
Non-league matchups vs. Taunton, Diman Regional Vocational and Brockton are on Weymouth's schedule, along with the typical Bay State Conference lineup of rivals Milton, Braintree, Wellesley, Newton North, Needham and Walpole.
