See the full story · 2 sourcesWith the Denver Broncos set to begin training camp this week, it's time for an updated 53-man roster prediction.
It's obviously very early to make such a prediction because we have yet to see how position battles shake out over the summer, but it's an intriguing exercise nonetheless.
Before getting to the roster, a few notes: This projection has Jarrett Stidham getting traded , leaving two quarterbacks on the active roster. This early prediction also only has three running backs, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the team carry four on the active roster.
Three of the toughest cuts were offensive linemen — Calvin Throckmorton, Matt Peart and Nick Gargiulo — but the projection has nine on the squad, and it's hard to imagine any of Alex Palczewski, Frank Crum, Kage Casey or Alex Forsyth losing their spots.
On defense, for now, Drew Sanders makes it because he can provide cover at both inside linebacker and outside linebacker, but this summer might represent his final opportunity to win a spot in Denver.
This projection does not include outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper because his felony assault case is ongoing .
