Philadelphia 76ers legend Allen Iverson has broken his silence over LeBron James joining the franchise with a blockbuster offseason move.
Iverson is still considered the greatest 76ers player of the modern era by most young fans, with the 76ers’ last run to the Conference and NBA Finals coming in 2001, carried by Iverson.
The team has its best chance to return to that stage of the Playoffs next season, especially with LeBron joining the squad alongside Jaylen Brown.
Allen Iverson gave his nickname to LeBron James after he joined the 76ers’
Iverson appeared on the Stephen A. Smith Show to discuss James’ arrival in the City of Brotherly Love, saying he was ecstatic to see this decision while giving his ‘The Answer’ nickname to LeBron.
“Just ecstatic, man. You know I’m just happy for the city of Philadelphia, man. For the team, you know what I mean? The type of player he is, the type of person he is. I’m just happy, man. He brings a lot, you know what I mean? He really is the answer.”
James’ addition has catapulted the 76ers into being among the favorites to win the 2027 NBA title, although the proven fit of teams like the Thunder, Spurs, and the Knicks still have them with better odds.
The 76ers now have two former MVPs (Embiid, LeBron) and two former Finals MVPs (Brown, LeBron). This group knows what needs to be done to secure a strong regular season as well as a dominant Playoff run.

LeBron can’t lead the 76ers in numbers as he could have five years ago. He is expected to play a guard role on offense to leverage his high IQ passing and simplify the on-court fit for this talented unit.
The 76ers were a team built around Joel embiid who started pivoting to Tyrese Maxey last season due to long-term concerns over Embiid’s health. They lost over 50 games just two seasons ago.
James’ addition guarantees the 76ers fanbase that they will be going after a title no matter what next season. Hopefully, that belief can stir the franchise into ending a 43-year NBA Championship drought.
