Horror movies and Christmas movies are entire genres that streamers can package, and channels can run as marathons, but football often wins Thanksgiving. Well, this year, it’s going to be a Hunting Wives Thanksgiving at Netflix. The streamer confirmed the release date for the highly anticipated second season of a show we complimentarily dubbed “elevated trash.”
Of course, a big question going into season two is how The Hunting Wives is going to pull off another season (and potentially two more) without the basis of May Cobb’s novel. Plenty of shows have had promising seasons but floundered when they ran out of book. Showrunner Rebecca Cutter has a plan, though, telling Harper’s Bazaar that season two will bring The Hunting Wives to the halfway point of a planned four-season arc. “You have these women actually become just as big as Texas in a lot of ways, so there’s a lot more danger and adventure to be had when you actually get out of the small town,” said star Britney Snow. “I think that’s what the next couple seasons would be: What happens when you’re messing with a lot more power, a lot more money, and a whole lot more land?”
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The synopsis for the upcoming season of The Hunting Wives reads:
At the start of Season 2, Sophie and Margo are on the outs. But soon enough, old secrets and new foes force them back together. As they play their dangerous games, the question arises. Are they the hunters or the hunted?
