One former Boston Celtics player quickly learned why controversial takes about LeBron James are a bad idea.
Even at 41 years old, Philadelphia 76ers star LeBron James remains one of the faces of the NBA and a solid enough player.
As one of the faces of the league, there’s no doubt that James has an immense fan following. As a result, whenever an analyst or a former NBA player speaks ill of the King, the fans are quick to defend him.

Tony Allen quickly learned why it’s a bad idea to criticize LeBron James
Tony Allen, who won the 2008 NBA Championship with the Boston Celtics, recently criticized James’ impact on the defensive end of the floor.
However, just days later, Allen has given up on his stance as he calls for a truce with James’ massive fanbase.
“I did not know LeBron James was that heavy in media, boy. I promise you, I don’t want no smoke. I’m coming on To The Baha right now, man. Tell all what y’all call them —the ‘sexuals’, the ‘Brons______’— hey man, tell them truce, little Bruce,” Allen said on The Baha podcast.
He added, “Straight up, man. Tell them they can send some of that love to To The Baha out the mud, man. Hey, since they so m____________ deep, we see how deep they is. D___, they was on my head!”
There’s no doubt that Allen was a defensive juggernaut during his NBA career, but James wasn’t a liability on that end during the prime of his career.
At the end of the day, James didn’t even need to respond himself as his fans ensured that Allen not only took back his comments, but also asked for a truce.
