The update brings the latest security fixes and performance improvements to watchOS.
This fall, the Apple Watch will be updated to a major new software version: watchOS 27.
Ahead of that larger release, expected in September , today Apple released watchOS 26.6.
watchOS 26.6 is focused on offering the most stable and secure version of the current Apple Watch software. Apple’s official release notes say:
This update provides bug fixes and security updates for your Apple Watch.
You can find the extensive list of security fixes here on Apple’s website .
It’s typical for updates that come shortly before a major new release to offer minimal new features. Apple’s priority with watchOS 26.6 is getting the software in the best possible shape now that its focus has shifted to watchOS 27.
The most recent Apple Watch update, watchOS 26.5, added a highly customizable Pride Luminance watch face . So if you haven’t yet checked that out, it’s well worth exploring.
How has watchOS 26 been running for you? Any lingering performance issues? Let us know in the comments.
