The Miami Dolphins are adding help for the defensive line in training camp after releasing veteran pass-rusher Bradley Chubb in March.
Chubb was released by the Dolphins in a bid to save $7.3 million in cap space as the new regime of general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley rebuild the roster. Chubb led Miami with 8.5 sacks last season.
Per the Dolphins, Miami signed edge Clelin Ferrell and waived defensive lineman Kahlil Saunders on Monday. Saunders signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Kentucky in May.

Ferrell, 29, was a standout for Clemson before the Oakland Raiders selected him with the No. 4 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He won two national championships (2016, 2018) with Clemson, and earned consensus All-American honors in 2018.
During his first seven years in the league, Ferrell has appeared in 98 games and started in 57 games. He has recorded 184 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles and 21 sacks.
Ferrell joined the Los Angeles Chargers in September of the 2025 season, appearing in one game before he was released on Oct. 14. On Oct. 29, he joined the San Francisco 49ers . He appeared in eight games for the 49ers, making 24 tackles, four tackles for loss and four sacks. It was the first season Farrell recorded at least four sacks since he was a rookie.
Ferrell showed promise during his brief stint with San Francisco last season, and made four tackles for San Francisco during the playoffs. He would have been on pace for nearly eight sacks in the regular season if he had played the entire 2025 campaign, similar to the numbers Chubb brought the Dolphins last season.
The Dolphins could be getting a gem from free agency to plug into Hafley's defense before the regular season.
