Pressure is being applied at one very important positional battle for the Indianapolis Colts.
Blake Grupe and Spencer Shrader are competing for the Colts ' kicking job, and while it's early, Grupe's steadiness may end up posing a big challenge for Shrader.
During last Friday's practice, Grupe went 6-for-6 on attempts, while Shrader was 5-for-6.
On Monday, only Grupe kicked, and he was again perfect, making all six kicks, according to Colts.com . His attempts ranged from 26 yards to 57 yards.
Shane Steichen said that the two kickers will rotate field goal attempts throughout training camp. So next up will be Shrader, who will have to match Grupe's performance to keep this competition close.
For what it's worth, Grupe also outperformed Shrader during the one open minicamp practice where the two kicked.
Since arriving in Indianapolis, Grupe has been nothing but consistent. From Week 14 through the end of the season, he was a perfect 10-for-10 on field goal attempts and 11-for-11 on extra points
