Tony Romo has dropped out of an upcoming golf tournament in the wake of his arrest for allegedly operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI) in Wisconsin.
The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and elite amateur golfer, 46, was set to play in the Texas State Open in Tyler, Texas, which starts on Tuesday, July 28, but has withdrawn from the event, NBC affiliate KETK-TV reported .
The Cascades Country Club in Tyler confirmed the news to the TV station on Sunday, July 26. Romo has previously played in the tournament nine times.
Romo was stopped in Milwaukee at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, according to the arrest-detention report obtained by ABC affiliate WISN-TV .

The CBS Sports lead NFL game analyst, who was traveling southbound on Interstate 43, “performed poorly” on standard field sobriety tests, NBC affiliate WTMJ-TV reported .
Romo, who was described as “cooperative” during the incident, was taken into custody on suspicion of OWI, booked and released. His court appearance is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 21.
First-offense OWI is not a criminal charge in Wisconsin, and a citation between $150 and $300 is typically issued.
The former NFL star was in his home state for the Wisconsin State Amateur golf event in West Bend.
The avid golfer — who has won the celebrity American Century Golf Tournament three times — finished the Wisconsin tournament 35 over par, in a tie for 73rd, according to Golfweek .
On Wednesday, July 22, the retired signal-caller was seen showing a young fan some football drills while at West Bend Country Club.
Romo spent his entire NFL career with the Cowboys from 2003-2016.
