With the Dodgers being the top team in baseball, they are expected to add more talent to their roster before the deadline passes.
Now, based on a new report, the Dodgers are eyeing one of the league's top trade candidate pitchers.
According to ESPN's Alden Gonzalez , the Dodgers have expressed interest in New York Mets pitcher Clay Holmes with the trade deadline almost here.
"A lot of the focus on the Dodgers has centered on Tarik Skubal, but they've checked in on another pitcher whose profile makes sense for them, according to sources: New York Mets starter Clay Holmes," Gonzalez wrote.
Hearing that the Dodgers have reached out to the Mets about Holmes is not surprising in the slightest. They could use another high-impact pitcher in their rotation for the playoffs, and acquiring Holmes would provide them with just that.
Before suffering a fractured fibula in May, Holmes had a 4-4 record, a 2.39 ERA, and 45 strikeouts in nine starts for the Mets this season. He was also very solid for the Mets in 2025, recording a 12-8 record, a 3.53 ERA, and 129 strikeouts in 33 appearances. With numbers like these, he would be a very good pitcher for the Dodgers to add to their rotation.
It will be intriguing to see if the Dodgers end up striking a deal for Holmes by the trade deadline. He would certainly make their already excellent roster even better.
